Dewey M. Myers Dewey M. Myers, 83, of Neodesha, Kansas, died Tuesday, September 21, 2004, at the Wilson County Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 25, 2004, at the First Christian Church under the direction of the Penwell Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. Interment will be in Neodesha Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Wilson County Hospital Foundation and may be left at the funeral home. Friends may call Thursday from 1-8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m-8 p.m. The son of Robinson C. and Pearl Graham Myers, he was born January 20, 1921, in Ralston, Oklahoma. He attended school at Burbank, OK. In 1940, he moved to Neodesha where he met his future wife. On October 26, 1940, he married Lois Marie Sweeney in Independence, Kansas. She preceded him in death July 12, 1990. He joined the US Army in 1945 and served until August of 1946. As member of the local unit of the National Guard, he served from 1951-1953. During the Korean Conflict, he was stationed in Okinawa. After returing to Neodesha, Mr. Myers was employed as a pipefitter and millwright. During his working career, he assisted in the construction of power plants in Ulysses and LaCygne, Kansas, as well as missile silos in the Wichita area. He was a member of the First Christian Church and VFW Post 5962. Survivors include three daughters, Janice Bishop of Neodesha, Jeannie Kebert of Alpine, California, and Jayne Laxson of El Cajon, California; one brother, Bob of Fayetteville, AR; five sisters, Julia Davis of Hot Springs, AR, Waltena RedCorn of Pawhuska, OK, Opal Scott of Las Cruces, NM, Frances Reagan of Tulsa, OK, and Margaret Ann Copenhaver of Sayer, OK; six grandchildren, Kim Barber, Kelly Johnson, Brent Bishop, Dewey Kebert, Treigh Odell, Brad and Tanner Laxson; four great-grandchildren, Jeremy Johnson, Jamie Johnson, David and Ethan Kebert. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, three sisters, and two grandchildren.
