DAVID M. HANNA, JR. David M. Hanna, Jr., 73, of Altoona, Kansas passed away Thursday, April 13, 2006 in Cherryvale, Kansas. David was born on September 01, 1932 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to David and Faye Hicks Hanna. He was raised and educated in Neodesha, Kansas graduating from Neodesha High School in 1950. He entered the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sgt. David married Nancy Scott on October 23, 1955 in Altoona, Kansas. He worked as a postal clerk for the U.S. Post Office, Neodesha, Kansas, retiring after 36 years of service. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church of Neodesha and the American Legion. David is survived by his wife, Nancy of the home in Altoona, Kansas; his mother, Faye Hanna of Chanute, Kansas; three sons, Gregory Hanna of Topeka, Kansas, Steven Hanna of Chanute, Kansas and Todd Hanna of Fredonia, Kansas; one brother, Donnie Hanna of Chanute, Kansas; one sister, Joyce Lakey of Anderson, Indiana; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and one daughter, Teresa. Visitation hours for David will be on Monday, April 17, 2006 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6 p.m to 8 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha, Kansas. Funeral services for David M. Hanna, Jr. will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Dewayne Prosser officiating. Cremation will follow the services under the direction of the Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. The family has suggested memorial contributions to either the Bible Baptist Church, 1100 N. 4th, Neodesha, Kansas or the Leukemia Society of America, 555 N. Woodlawn, Wichita, Kansas 67208. Memorials may be left with the funeral home.
