Charles E. Peterson Charles Eugene Chuck Peterson, of Springfield, MO, formerly of Neodesha, died Saturday, September 3rd, 2011 at Cox Medical Center in Springfield after a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 from 68 p.m. at PenwellGabel Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha. Services will be held Thursday, September 8 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Neodesha with Reverend Dave Cheshier and Reverend Frank Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at Neodesha Cemetery. Chuck was born March 3, 1939 in Rock Island, Illinois. He spent his childhood in Delmar, IA and, after graduating from Iowa State University, started a career in sales and purchasing. Over the years he worked for AllisChalmers Kansas City, MO, Bay Vett Kansas City, KS, Cobalt Boats Neodesha, KS and retired after twentytwo years from Tracker Boats in Springfield, MO. Chuck was united in marriage to Sharon DeLong. Together they raised four children, Paula, Karla, David, and Sarah, all of whom graduated from Neodesha High School. Chuck enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling, boating and relaxing at the cabin at Grand Lake in Oklahoma. He had also been active in Boy Scouts. Chuck was preceded in death by his mother, Myrtle Parks. He is survived by his wife, Sharon, his children and their spouses: Paula and Tom Wright, Republic, MO Karla and Wade Stepp, Cincinnati, OH David and Jennifer Peterson, Independence, KS and Sarah Garbee, Billings, MO. He is also survived by a sister, Roberta Schwartz, Clinton, IA, thirteen grandchildren, three greatgrandchildren and several brotherandsisterinlaws, nieces and nephews. He was a Christian man, devoted to his family, and his honesty, integrity and sense of humor will be greatly missed. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Boy Scouts of America and may be left at the funeral home.
