Surrounded by his family and loved ones, Charles Howard Murphy, 83, of rural Altoona, Kansas went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 6, 2018.
Charles Howard Murphy was born on June 22, 1934 in Morehead, Kansas to Howard and Laura (Adams) Murphy. Charlie attended and graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1952. Charlie owned and operated the Hillcrest Motel in Independence, KS until his retirement. Following his retirement, Charlie purchased his farm and began his true passion, his farming career. Charlie was united in marriage to Cindy Davisson on January 31, 1997 in Independence, KS. Charlie enjoyed many hobbies through the years, playing the guitar, singing, dancing, and working on his farm. The church, God and Charlie's family has always played an important role in Charlie's life. Charlie will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and a friend to everyone.
Those left to cherish Charlie's memory include; wife, Cindy Murphy of Altoona, KS, daughters, Debbie Denison of Hutchinson, KS, Mara Monroy, husband Hector of Altoona, KS, sons, Allen Murphy of Winston Salem, NC, Christopher Davisson of Ellsworth, KS, Nathan Burt, wife Susan of Lone Rock, WI, Kevin Osborne of Farmington, NM, Matt Arnold, wife Lindsey of Neodesha, KS, sisters, Virginia Hall of Gyman, OK, Loretta Holtzman of Chanute, KS, Bonnie Glades, husband Fred of Bartlesville, OK, 25 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Laura (Adams) Murphy, sisters, Betty Montgomery, Irene Seaver, and son, Jared Patrick Osborne.
Cremation has been entrusted to Loran Fawcett Chapel. A celebration of Charlie's life will be held at Christ Church in Neodesha, KS on May 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. To leave the family a special message, please visit www.loranfawcettfuneralhome.com.
