Charles W. Caldwell, 88 of Neodesha, Kansas passed away Thursday, December 19, 2013 at his home.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 10:30 am at Grace Baptist Church, Pastor, Jim Logan will be officiating. Burial follow at the Neodesha City Cemetery, under the direction of Loran Fawcett Chapel of Neodesha, Kansas. Visitation will be Sunday, December 22 from 5pm to 6pm at Grace Baptist Church. The family has suggested memorial contributions to be made to Grace Baptist Church and may be left with the funeral home.
Charles was born January 26, 1925 in Spokane, Washington to Lawrence R. and Lulu Benton Caldwell. He grew up in Washington and joined the US Navy on April 13, 1943 during the WWII and served in The South Pacific and was honorably discharged on March 14, 1946.
Charles moved to Neodesha in 1949 with his sister, he met and married Ada McClure. She preceded him in death on August 24, 1980. Charles married Doloris Bennett Watson on October 21, 1983 at the Grace Baptist Church in Neodesha. He worked for Newland Dairy, the Standard Oil Company in Neodesha and after twentyfive years of employment he retired from MEC of Neodesha.
He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church, and a life time member of the VFW Post 3018 in Fredonia.
Charles is survived by his wife, Doloris, of the home stepdaughters, Diana Little of Augusta, Kansas , Lisa Watson and Angela Nagy both of Neodesha, Kansas grandson, Shane Caldwell of Lincoln, Nebraska granddaughter, Adriene Bellmyer of Lincoln, Nebraska, nine step grandchildren, eight great grandchildren eighteen step great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and first wife he was preceded in death by a son, Greg Caldwell and step son, Russ Watson.
