Charles LeRoy Bryan, 97, Neodesha, Kansas went to his heavenly home on Sunday May 8, 2016. A Celebration of life service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 16, 2016 at Loren Fawcett Chapel with Reverend Les Goings officiating. Burial will follow the celebration in Neodesha City Cemetery. Friends may register on Sunday, May 15, 2016 from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. with the family greeting visitors from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. The family suggests memorials to Independence Bible School and may be left with the Chapel.
Leroy was born July 1, 1918 in Neodesha, Kansas the son of Charles Elmer and Sarah Mahala (Dowty) Bryan. He attended and graduated from Neodesha, Kansas Schools. Leroy married Ida Inez McIntyre on April 18, 1939 in Cherryvale, Kansas and the couple made their home in Neodesha, Kansas. Leroy served in the United States Army during WWII in the 121st General Hospital Unit. After an Honorable Discharge from the Army Leroy worked in several different jobs in Neodesha, and Independence, Kansas, Toledo, Ohio, Kansas City, Kansas, Kellogg, Idaho for Standard Oil until it closed in 1970. Leroy then was employed as a custodian at Independence Community College and then Neodesha, Kansas Schools as well as a Crossing Guard for Neodesha Schools. Leroy is a member of the Cherryvale, Kansas Bible Holiness Church.
Leroy was preceeded in death by his parent's, wife, four brothers, and one sister. Survivors include two sons Sherwood and wife Janette, Independence, KS; Gareth and wife Carol, Williamsport, MD, two grandchildren, Chadrick and wife Dianna, Houston, TX; Micha and Husband Ben Hale, Hickory, NC; three great-grandchildren, Sydney and Austin Hale, and Luke Gunn Bryan.
Loran Fawcett Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
