Bruce B. Burkhead, farming was Bruces passion. Bruce began his farming career in high school, working with his grandparents, Fred and Mildred Byer of Stafford. Bruce continued farming in the local area with his Little Shoats operation with hogs, cattle and crops. Later he added oil and gas, starting 3B Energy, Inc. Most recently, he acquired management of Hare Farms. Bruce always had a helping hand wherever needed.
Bruce married Connie Hare of Neodesha, Kansas on September 18, 1976. They have two sons, Fred and Stephen, who carry on Bruces farming and oil interests. After a valiant battle with cancer, Bruce Byer Burkhead passed peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the Hospice Via Christie Hospital in Wichita, Kansas, surrounded by his family.
Bruce was born July 8, 1954, in Stafford, Kansas to Melvin and Doris Byer Burkhead. He is survived by his wife Connie, sons Fred and Stephen Sarah, parents Melvin and Doris, sister Jenni Jim Lewis, brother Eric Barbara, fatherinlaw Melvin Hare and brotherinlaw John Hare Deanna.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at the Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha, Kansas. The family will greet friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Services will be held at Christ Church of Neodesha at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 30, 2014. The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the Victory of the Valley or Harry Hynes Hospice these may be left with the funeral home.
