Bobby White

July 17, 1927 — July 3, 2018

Bobby Eugene White Sr, born on July 17th, 1927, went home to be with his beloved wife on what would have been their 69th wedding anniversary, July 3rd, 2018. At seventeen years old, Bob left to serve his country in the U.S. Navy during the second World War. He was a Seaman First Class on the U.S.S. Alcor where he earned a Victory Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal. Bob graduated from Independence High School in 1945. He married Leatrice "Lee" Jean Ivy on July 3rd, 1949 and they had four children. Bob worked for Standard Oil in Neodesha from 1950 to 1970 where he made many lifelong friends. Bob also worked at M.E.C. in Neodesha from 1970 to 1976 and later the U.S. Post Offices in Fredonia and Neodesha.

Bob was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. in Neodesha and enjoyed walking in parades and serving alongside his friends and fellow veterans.

Bob never knew a stranger and enjoyed visiting with everyone. He will be remembered for his work ethic and generosity to all, giving a stranger the shirt off his back. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife Leatrice, his parents W. O. "Chub" and Mary White, and his brother David White. Bob is survived by his children: Cozetta "Cozy" Smith and her husband Charles of Sycamore, Bobby White Jr. of Neodesha, LaDeen White Allen and her husband Rodney of Maple Hill, and Lori White of Neodesha; sisters, Mary June Null of Tulsa, OK and Beverly Hight of Independence; brothers, Donald White of Independence, Damon White of Fall River and Ramon White of Tyro; nine grandchildren, Dan Smith and his wife Beth of Laurel, MT, Michelle Schroeder and her husband Darin of Ozawkie, Travis White and his wife Tawny of Neodesha, Tracy White of Huntersville, NC, Nathan Soltice of Kansas City, Andy White and his wife Shaymarie of Lawrence, Eric Pouncil of Independence, Dayton Allen of Eskridge, and Tanner Allen of Maple Hill; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
