Bobby Counsil

Bobby R. Counsil, 73, of Neodesha, Kansas, went home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. A Celebration of Bob's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Grace Baptist Church in Neodesha, Kansas with burial to follow in Grandview Cemetery, rural Neodesha, Kansas. The family will greet visitors on Friday, October 7, 2016 from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. at Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha, Kansas. Memorials to honor Bob may be made to Bob Counsil Memorial Scholarship in care of Allen Community College Endowment Association, 1801 N. Cottonwood, Iola, Kansas 66749. Bob was born February 26, 1943 in Elk City, Kansas. He attended and graduated from Elk City High School. Bob has been a longtime resident of Neodesha, Kansas and was employed at Young's Welding in Chanute, Kansas as a foreman until his retirement. Bob was a 25 plus year active member of Grace Baptist Church in Neodesha, Kansas. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed all outdoor activities including, but not limited to, hunting, fishing, mowing, farming, and cutting wood. Bob also thrived on helping others and used the years after his retirement to spend time with family and friends and build lasting relationships with his grandchildren. Bob will be missed by family, friends, and his farming and church community. Bob married Joan Jacobs, the mother of his children, and they later divorced. Bob then married Laura LaBarr, who preceded him in death. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Roger Russell Counsil Sr. and Steven Wayne Counsil, one sister, Betty Daugherty, and two brothers, Larry Counsil and Gary Counsil. Survivors include three daughters, Tammie Joan (Kevin) Kramer, Grand Prairie, TX; Kimberly Mary (Terry) Palmer, Pensacola, FL; Nancy Annette (Chip) Henry, Blountsville, AL; three sons Bobby Ray (Tricia) Counsil, Cottage Grove, MN; Brian Keith (Margaret) Counsil, Neodesha, KS; Curtis Douglas Counsil, Neodesha, KS; one sister, Sharon Pope, Everett, WA; grandchildren, Michael Kane, Tiffany Kane, Bobby Kramer, Jake Kramer, Ryan Palmer, Johathon Zahm, Christopher Counsil, Roger Counsil Jr., Brandi Counsil, Jessica Counsil, Emily Counsil, Drew Counsil, Johnathan Counsil, Jeremiah Counsil; and two great-grandchildren, Clark Zahm and Paige Zahm.
