Blanche L. Reed Blanche L. Reed of Neodesha, KS, died Tuesday, April 08, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Independence, KS. She was 90. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2008, at Christ Church under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. The Reverend Dave Cheshier will officiate. Interment will be held at 2:30 p.m. in Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Oswego, KS. Friends may call to register Thursday from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The daughter of Sam O. and Susie Ann Stice Smith, she was born May 29, 1917, at Oswego, KS. She grew up in Oswego where she received her education. On August 19, 1936, she was united in marriage to Harry Ellis Reed in Oswego. The couple moved to Neodesha in the late 1940s. They were later
orced. Blanche was a member of Christ Church and loved to sew, crochet, cook and engage in craft making. Survivors include one son, Larry Reed and his wife Sarah of Great Bend, KS; three daughters, Katherine Foster and her husband John of Chico, TX, Geneva Greenlee of Neodesha and Evelyn Pekrul and her husband Al of Neodesha; five sisters, Naomi Hoggett, Louise Clevenger and Irene Lassen, all of Coffeyville, KS, Laurine Ross of Kansas City, KS, and Mary Lopp of Baxter Springs, KS; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, and one infant son, Norman. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Church and may be left at the funeral home.
