Betty M. Gruver Betty M. Gruver, of Raymore, MO, formerly of Independence, KS, died peacefully at her home on Oct. 6, 2011. Betty was born November 19, 1921, in Adrian, MO, to Clyde and Thelma Inez Clemmer Kendrick. She married George F. Gruver on June 21, 1941. They made their homes on farms in the Sunny Side, Havana and rural Independence areas before moving to Independence in 1975. Betty worked at Electra, which later became ACC, in Independence for 10 years. She belonged to KayMEKay the Club, HDU, and was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 134 at Elk City. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Independence. Betty enjoyed many hobbies including ceramics, painting, quilting, sewing, crocheting and reading. Survivors include her daughter, Georgia Grassi of Raymore, MO her son, James Gruver and his wife Nora of Columbia, KY a daughter Vicky Ross and her husband Danny of Oswego, KS six granddaughters two grandsons 10 greatgranddaughters 11 greatgrandsons three greatgreatgranddaughters and six greatgreatgrandsons. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, George Gruver her parents two brothers one granddaughter two sets of twin greatgrandchildren and one greatgreatgrandson. Funeral services will be held at the PenwellGabel Webb amp Rodrick Chapel on Monday, October 10, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Terry Hatfield officiating. The family will receive friends from 24 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at the funeral home. Casketbearers will be Mike Kendrick, Bob Kendrick, Bud Kendrick, Mitch Dowell, Bryan Ross and Andy Gruver. Honorary casketbearers will be Justin Dowell, Kyler Dowell, Matthew Dowell, Adam Dowell, Forrest Dowell, Daniel Smith, Lane Martin, Caleb Horn, Kurtis Gruver, Treton Gruver and Cauy Ross. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society for Ovarian Cancer Research or the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 134.
