Betty E. Floyd Betty E. Floyd of Neodesha, KS, died Saturday, June 13, 2009, at the Golden Living Center. She was 77. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 2009, at Christ Church under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. Reverend Dave Cheshier will officiate. Interment will be in Altoona Cemetery. Friends may call to register on Wednesday from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. The daughter of Herbert and Rose E. Guiou Bishop, she was born July 6, 1931, in Buffalo, Kansas. She graduated from Thayer High School in 1949 as the class Valedictorian. On March 26, 1953, she was united in marriage to Jack Howard Floyd in Little Rock, Arkansas. He preceded her in death in 1980. Mrs. Floyd was a seamstress. She was employed at Stevie Togs and Pedi Bears in Neodesha and later owned and operated Bettys Dress Shop in Neodesha. After closing her shop in 1972, she continued to create craft items for sale in area craft shows. She was a former member of the Neodesha Chamber of Commerce. Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Redington and her husband Dan of Neodesha and Cindy Maphies and her husband Leslie of Claremore, OK; three sons, Jack and his wife Kathy of Neodesha, Donald and his wife Judi of Orlando, FL, Steven of Austin, CO; three brothers, Floyd Bishop of Neodesha, Kenneth Bishop of Pittsburg, KS and Jim Bishop of Perry, KS; 10 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, one son, Mike; three sisters, Dorothy, Norma and Lois; and one brother, Junior. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
