Bernice Busby, 79, of Altoona, Kansas passed away Monday, April 11, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Neodesha, Kansas. Funeral Services, under the direction of PenwellGabel Loran Fawcett Chapel, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2011, at the Grace Baptist Church in Neodesha with Pastor Jim Logan officiating. Interment will be in Altoona Cemetery. Friends may call to register from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13th, with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family has suggested memorials to Grace Baptist Church or to Castaways in Chanute, Kansas. Bernice Evans was born on December 27, 1931 to James and Otha Hughes Evans in Henryetta, Oklahoma. She graduated from Altoona High School . On December 24, 1948 she married Lowell L. Busby in Dewar, Oklahoma. He precedes her in death on May 02, 2006. The couple lived all of their married life in the Altoona area, 32 years of which were spent on the family farm east of Altoona, where she was a homemaker, a loving wife and a devoted mother. Bernice later went on to work for several years in housekeeping at Beverly Health amp Rehab in Neodesha. Survivors include four sons, Bruce Busby of St. Paul, KS, Brent Busby of Humboldt, KS, Brian Busby of Topeka, KS, Brett Busby of Chanute, KS two daughters, Kay Davis of Chanute, KS and Beverly Flessner of Altoona, KS twelve grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren and a special companion named Angel. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother, Cecil Evans.
