ADELINE D. CARSTEDT Adeline D. Carstedt, 97, of Chanute, Kansas, formerly of rural Cherryvale, died Sunday evening, February 20, 2005, at the Heritage Health Care in Chanute. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2005, at Penwell Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery. Pastor Jim Bell will officiate. Friends may call on Tuesday from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The daughter of Wesley Mike and Barbara B. Barnett Hynek, she was born January 3, 1908, in Washington County, Kansas. As a girl, she moved to southeast Kansas and attended a rural grade school in the rural Lafontaine, Kansas area. She was united in marriage to Elmer Carstedt on August 17, 1935, in Fredonia, Kansas. He preceded her in death on January 9, 1986. Mrs. Carstedt was a homemaker and assisted her husband with the family farm. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Neodesha. Survivors included two sons, Edward W. Carstedt of Moran, KS, and Robert W. Carstedt of Wichita, KS; one daughter, Shirley Cook of Chanute, KS; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Joe and Bill Hynek, and two sisters, Blanche Ghilnio and Rosie Mahaffey.
